Clean Sweep for Dominance at Fusion Fighting Championships

Clean Sweep for Dominance at Fusion Fighting Championships

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED 🏆

Last Friday we took to the Fusion Fighting Championship cage once again, this time with Ivan Donlic opening the main card in a NoGi #superfight and Justin Robertson headlining in the main event for the 70kg Combat Jiu Jitsu Title. We took these matches a few months ago and worked diligently on analysing our opponents, devising a strategy to negate their strengths while imposing our own and building a training camp to achieve these objectives. No stone was left unturned for this one.

With Ivan we took a tough match against a quality opponent who is both a Black Belt and a NoGi specialist. We did our homework and Ivan put in massive amounts of work during camp, all of which led to huge improvements in his game overall. On the night he was able to execute the game plan, negating his opponents leg attacks and imposing great passing pressure peppered with back attacks, Kimura traps and front head locks. Ultimately he would pull guard at the right moment and sweep to take the victory 2-0 with 2 advantages in a technical and mature display that showcased his evolution as a competitor.

Juzzy walked to the cage in the main event riding a 3-0 record in FFC. Despite an interrupted camp that saw him sidelined for a few weeks with a torn patella tendon, Juzzy implemented the game plan and then some, dominating the match with his signature intensity, wrestling and guard passing. He was smart, smooth and savage. When the smoke had settled the 70kg CJJ belt was strapped firmly around his waist and honestly no one deserves it more than he does. If you know his story, you know what I mean. I can’t overstate how proud and impressed I am by this kid and his tenacity.

Thank you to our opponents and their coaches, all gentlemen and true students of the game. Thankyou to Matteo and the FFC team for giving the guys their shot. Congratulations on a great event 👏

Thank you to everyone who played a part in the boys training camp – coaches Saeed Karsaz (wrestling), Adele Fornarino (leg locks) and Dave Hart. Thank you to Chris from Stride Physio Health for managing Juzzy’s injury. Thank you to everyone from Dominance and beyond who stepped on the mat to help.
Lastly, thank you to everyone from Dominance and our friends who supported on the night (100+!), bought the live stream or sent messages of support. We cannot express how proud we are of this team 🔺
